Health Care Away from Home

Options for Out-of-town Visitors

If hurricane evacuations have brought you to the Upstate for a few days, we want to do our part to help you by providing for any healthcare needs you may experience while you’re in town. Greenville Health System has a variety of options for those needing medical care away from home.

If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or visit a GHS Emergency Center.

Call 1-844-GHS-DOCS (447-3627)

GHS asks people seeking help for medical conditions that are not emergencies—whether for adults or children—to call 1-844-GHS-DOCS (447-3627). You will receive an appointment with a provider most appropriate for your needs. This will ensure that emergency rooms can respond to emergencies as efficiently as possible.

SmartExam Online Doctor Visits

Perhaps the easiest way to get care for minor illnesses and injuries is through GHS SmartExam, an online tool that connects you with a GHS care provider. Because of Hurricane Florence, GHS has waived the $20 consultation fee for SmartExam through Monday, Sept. 17. You can use SmartExam to receive a diagnosis and treatment plan (and prescription from a nearby pharmacy if needed) for a number of common conditions such as …

  • Bladder infection or urinary tract infection (UTI)
  • Cough, cold, allergy or chest infection
  • Sore throat
  • Flu
  • Sinus pain or pressure

Health Care for Children

If you have children needing health care while you are in the Upstate, you can call 1-844-GHS-DOCS (447-3627) during normal business hours to schedule an appointment with a pediatric provider.

If your child needs care after hours or on the weekend, you can bring them to any of our convenient care locations. You also can call one of the practices listed here (during their hours of operation) for an appointment with a pediatric provider.
