Better informed patients lead to improved health outcomes. To help reach that goal, Greenville Memorial Hospital has a patient and family education center located on the first floor of the Heart & Vascular Institute (in the lobby).
The Turrentine Patient Education Center (TPEC) seeks to fulfill Greenville Health System’s mission of healing compassionately, teaching innovatively, and improving constantly by offering modern, multimedia access to reliable health information for patients and visitors in a state-of-the-art format. The center offers a welcoming environment where visitors can learn about wellness, a health condition or treatment by use of a large, interactive computer touchscreen and tablet stations that feature access to innovative and exciting health educational software and online research. This groundbreaking technological and educational initiative will serve as an important tool to improve health outcomes by helping patients and visitors explore health information and have questions answered in a compassionate and comfortable setting.
This center represents Greenville Health System’s commitment to patient- and family-centered care and is part of a network of other health-specific resource centers such as the Cancer Resource Center and Ronald McDonald Room.
The center is staffed by a masters-level certified health educator.
