GREENVILLE, S.C. — More than 5,000 runners and walkers are expected to take part in the annual Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit 5K on the first Friday in May, marking the eleventh year of the region’s largest 5K.
This year’s race begins in Gateway Park in Travelers Rest at 6:30 p.m., on Friday, May 3 and will finish there as well.
The $6 registration includes processing fees, and all online registrants receive a free Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit 5K T-shirt. Race registration increases to $15 on April 28. To save paper, pre-registration is online only except day-of registration. Day-of registration can be paid Thursday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at Gateway Park on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
After the race, all are invited to participate in complimentary food, drinks and music along with many children’s activities.
This year Prisma Health will also be partnering with Harvest Hope Upstate, one of three regional branches of the state’s largest hunger relief organization. Race participants are asked to bring canned items to the race for Harvest Hope to collect.
“The Swamp Rabbit 5K is an opportunity for the community to enjoy one of our greatest health and wellness resources right in our backyard,” said Rebecca Cooper, Prisma Health–Upstate community relations and Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit 5K coordinator. “We’re thrilled to be enhancing our community connection this year through our partnership with Harvest Hope, and we’re looking forward to a successful event.”
