Here at Regional Urology we are enhancing the male patient experience through our new Men’s Health Center. Studies show that women are the primary healthcare decision makers in their families and they are also more likely to visit the doctor for annual exams and preventative services than men. This practice can be very dangerous for men because often times diseases that could be easily prevented or treated are much more advanced by the time men get around to going to the doctor. Regularly scheduled medical care is a big part of preventing diseases like cancer and heart disease. The failure of men and doctors to meet regularly could be the reason why women live longer than men and why men are more likely to get and die of serious diseases.
The focus of the Men’s Health Center is secondary health issues that are the result of chronic diseases like cancer or cardiovascular disease, and sometimes even from the treatments required to fight the disease. We plan to meet the need of men in the Upstate by focusing our practice one day a week solely around the treatment of men’s health issues, we feel we are helping men take charge of their health and improving their quality of life. We want fathers to become grandfathers!
If you have experienced any of the following, you may be suffering from a secondary health issue that we can diagnose and treat (or provide a referral to a valued specialist).
Some common conditions we identify and treat (referrals to a specialist may be necessary for some diagnosis):
