What is an online visit?

An online visit is a service offering the simplest, most convenient way to get care for everyday health issues.

Do I have to be a current patient of Prisma Health?

No, you do not have to be a current patient of Prisma Health to take advantage of this service.

Who is responding to my online visit?

We believe that your health care needs are unique. All online visits are reviewed by licensed providers who are part of your care team. They will provide you with a personalized diagnosis and treatment plan that they've tailored to your unique symptoms and condition.

Do I need to use a camera or video?

You never need to use video for an online visit. For some conditions, we may want to see a picture to help us understand what's going on. If needed, you can use pictures from your mobile device or your computer.

Will I be treated by my own doctor?

Because we want to help you feel better faster, and your doctor isn't always available at the moment that you need care, we can't guarantee that you'll be treated by your doctor. We know the trust you put in us is important. You'll always be treated by a licensed provider who is part of your care team. We also always make sure that your online visit is part of your medical record, and that your doctor sees what care you're getting.

How much will my online visit cost me?

The cost for a diagnosis and treatment plan is $20.

How do I submit payment?

Payment is easy. Just enter your credit card or debit card information. We’ll charge your card and send you a receipt. You only pay if we can treat your condition.

Can I use my health savings account (HSA) card to pay for an online visit?

Yes, you can enter your HSA card number when you submit payment during checkout.

What do I do if I don’t have a credit card, debit card or HSA card?

We suggest a loadable gift credit card.

Can I bill my insurance?

If you believe this service is covered by your insurance plan, you may submit a claim to your insurance company to pursue reimbursement. Be aware that if this is not a covered service, the cost you pay during check-out will not count toward your deductible or out-of-pocket maximum. This service is not covered by Medicare or Medicaid.

Will I be charged if you can’t treat me?

Never. Our goal is to help you get easy access to high quality, affordable care. If it turns out that we can't treat you through an online visit, then there's no charge to you. If your condition requires an in-person visit, we can help locate a provider for you at no charge.

How long does it take to create an account?

Setting up an account is easy. After you submit your information (either online or by phone), you will receive an email within about 15 minutes that lets you know your account is active and that you can begin your SmartExam.

How long does it take to finish an online visit?

Once you’ve created an account, it typically takes between five and 10 minutes for patients to finish an online visit. Just like when you come in to the doctor’s office, we ask different questions based on your unique symptoms and condition, so the actual time it takes to finish will depend on your unique circumstances.

Can I get prescription medications through an online visit?

Yes. Your provider can order prescription medications for you if they’re needed, and send the prescriptions directly to the pharmacy of your choice.

Is the prescription included in the $20 cost?

No, you will pay for your prescription at the pharmacy.

Is the care I receive through an online visit included in my medical record?

Yes. That's one of the unique values of getting care through a Prisma Health online visit. Unlike the care you get from some online care companies, we make sure all your care is coordinated with your overall health care needs, and it’s always included in your medical record.

Can I share my account with my spouse?

No. To ensure your privacy and safety, each person must have a separate account using a separate email address.

For desktops and laptops, we support the latest versions of Chrome, Safari, and Firefox, and Internet Explorer 10+. On mobile devices, we support the latest versions of Safari and Android Chrome.
