Volunteer Information

The West End Co-Op (WECO), part of Roger C. Peace Brain Injury Program, extends the continuum of care for the person with brain injury, by providing supported short- or long-term volunteer opportunities. The program is designed to bridge the gap between the conclusion of a patient’s therapy and life post therapy. Volunteerism can be a way to continue the healing process for the brain injury community while offering their time and efforts in the form of doing meaningful work as a way of giving back. The “brain injury community” includes former patients, current patients, family members and other care-partners, and persons from other BI and Vocational advocacy groups.

There are several requirements that need to be completed prior to becoming a volunteer at WECO.

If you have any questions or need help during the application process, please let the Co-op staff know so we can make sure the process goes as smoothly as possible!

What can you expect to do as a WECO volunteer?

There are many opportunities to bring your skills and experience to the table when you volunteer at the Co-op. Opportunities may include:

  • Making items that can be sold by the Co-op to raise money for brain injury
  • Helping staff in the daily operations of the Co-op (e.g. planning, business admin., etc.)
  • Representing the Co-op at special events (e.g. jewelry sales, networking meetings, etc.)
  • Talking to and encouraging other patients and caregivers.

Please contact us at any point if you have any questions or need help with the application! Our phone number is (864) 455-2625. Thank you for your interest in becoming a WECO volunteer!
