Working in close cooperation with the Greenville Health System Children’s Hospital, our designated pediatric team provides rehabilitation therapy to children from infancy through 18 years of age. We treat children whose development as been disrupted by injury or illness and, as a result, lose physical, social, behavioral or cognitive skills. Roger C. Peace Rehabilitation Hospital provides a child-friendly treatment environment where all activities and equipment are designed to meet the special needs of children at their various stages of growth and development.
Our overall goal is to help these children get back on track developmentally and become active members in their community again. Individual goals are as varied as the child and family themselves and the rehabilitation team encourages their input. Pediatric neuropsychology services are an important element of this program.
Roger C. Peace Rehabilitation Hospital emphasizes interdisciplinary care and considers the family to be members of the team. A child’s family is the primary place where development happens and parents are the primary ones who make it happen. Our team of professionals is trained in the treatment of children and adolescents, so we recognize the importance of supporting the family’s involvement in planning and carrying out rehabilitation. Families are encouraged to attend therapy sessions, teach the staff about their child, learn about their child’s condition, learn their child’s daily care, ask questions, give feedback, and attend meetings with their child’s physician.
Reaching the specific needs of brain-injured children and their families, the Pediatric Family Centered Inpatient Brain Injury program provides comprehensive, integrated inpatient rehabilitative care. This program is part of Greenville Health System, with ready access to a broad spectrum of specialty medical and diagnostic services. As a result, patients receive necessary services without interrupting their rehabilitation program as well as establishing relationships with local specialists.
The Pediatric Family Centered Brain Injury Program, along with the Brain Injury and Spinal Cord Injury programs, is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
