Managing Your Imaging Needs with Care and Compassion
The Department of Radiology is dynamic and innovative. We take pride in offering a full range of image-based technology in all areas of radiologic procedure. Because of our specialized facilities, highly skilled staff and sophisticated medical equipment, our services and locations are primary referral centers for patients with medical problems ranging from routine illnesses to the most serious and unusual conditions. The Radiology Department provides care for patients ranging from newborns to the elderly in settings that include inpatient, outpatient, emergency and nursing homes.
Our purpose is to provide high-quality patient imaging and the best customer service possible to our patients, their family members, physicians and other GHS staff in a cost-effective manner.
Standards of care guide our staff in assessing and identifying patients’ physical and functional capabilities to attain preferred exam outcomes. The patient’s clinical condition, age and cultural needs are considered when delivering care.
The STAR Tumor Ablation System is a treatment that targets pain in cancer patients with metastatic spinal tumors. The STAR treatment is most beneficial for patients with radio-resistant tumors, recurrent pain after radiation therapy, posterior vertebral body metastatic tumors, or localized pain and symptoms that are preventing palliative radiation. This treatment also is appropriate for those who have reached their maximum radiation dose and cannot undergo other palliative treatments due to current systemic treatments in which myelosuppression is of concern.
Radiology services are available at all GHS campus locations. Ask your physician if your specific procedure is available at the location most convenient for you. For pre-procedure instructions or information about a particular exam or procedure, ask your physician or call the scheduling office at (864) 455-7774.
Michael Thomason, MD and Michael Evert, MD have been performing pediatric procedures in the GHS Radiology department for over twenty years and are the only pediatric radiologists in the Greenville/Spartanburg/Anderson area. All pediatric procedures performed at GHS utilize low-dose radiology specifically designed for children.
Dr. Thomason and Dr. Evert are assisted by specially trained pediatric technologists, and all are highly experienced at working with a diverse pediatric population. Young patients and their families will find a large, welcoming pediatric waiting room with books, TV, toys, video games and other items to make the experience more comforting. Radiology also has a full-time, licensed child-life staff member at the Greenville Memorial Medical Campus to work with our pediatric population.
