Our Affiliate System

We are building one organization with affiliates in two regions. Our parent company, now known as Prisma Health, supports both affiliates with overall direction and leadership as we continue to align. We will soon share one brand across the entire organization to better reflect this. The rebranded Palmetto Health-USC Medical Group will continue to operate as a joint venture between the Midlands affiliate and the USC School of Medicine.

Piedmont OB Gyn Robotic Surgery

Robotic Surgery

Piedmont OB/GYN and Greenville Health System are proud to offer robotic surgery, the latest technical advance in minimally invasive surgery. Robotic surgery uses the daVinci surgical system to offer minimally invasive options for numerous procedures that previously required traditional, open, more invasive surgical techniques. Dr. Kristen MacClenahan, Dr Carrie Ann Twedt,  and Dr. Mark Moore are among the few physicians in the Upstate trained in this advanced surgical procedure.

Dr. Moore and Dr. MacClenahan and Dr Twedt  have joined forces to offer these services and options here at Piedmont OB/GYN. Greenville is the only location in South Carolina with a duel console system for robotic surgery. This enables us to offer the expertise of two skilled surgeons operating together with the da Vinci surgical system to bring you the most advanced surgical care available.  Dr. MacClenahan is the first female surgeon to offer robotic surgery as a treatment for advanced endometriosis.

Robotic surgery offers the ability to approach fibroids, endometriosis, pelvic pain, pelvic floor relaxation and prolapse, and abnormal uterine bleeding in a whole new light. The da Vinci® Surgical System provides surgeons with an alternative to both traditional open surgery and conventional laparoscopy, putting a surgeon’s hands at the controls of a state-of-the-art robotic platform. The da Vinci System enables surgeons to perform even the most complex and delicate procedures through very small incisions with unmatched precision.

For the patient, benefits may include:

  • Significantly less pain
  • Less blood loss
  • Less scarring
  • Shorter recovery time
  • A faster return to normal daily activities
  • And in many cases, better clinical outcomes

Visit the Robotic Surgery site with the Greenville Health System for more information and a short video clip explaining and demonstrating the procedure.
