Founded in 1981, Blue Ridge Orthopedics is one of the largest orthopedic providers in the Upstate. We currently consist of 13 Board Certified orthopedic surgeons, many of whom are fellowship trained. Our skilled and dedicated team of surgeons, fellowship trained primary care providers, physician assistants, nursing and administrative team is dedicated to delivering the highest quality, most efficient healthcare. BROA has served as the Clemson Orthopaedic Team Physician since 1988, and in addition provides football sideline coverage and care for athletes in the Oconee/Anderson/Pickens area. Athletic services are also provided for Anderson University and Erskine College. Spring brings with it the performance of over 1500 high school athletes sports physicals and fall brings the Saturday morning Bump and Bruise clinics for immediate care needed following Friday night games.
With offices in two convenient locations, our surgeons perform hip and knee total joint procedures at both AnMed Medical Center and Oconee Memorial Hospital.
Other services offered include, but are not limited to arthroscopic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, specialized foot and ankle treatment and surgery, shoulder surgeries, hand and upper extremity surgery, carticel implantations, pediatric and adolescent orthopedics, arthritis diagnosis and treatment, fracture and trauma care and treatment of worker’s compensation injuries.
Bone density scans, digital and computerized x-rays and extremity MRI are also available.

In an effort to provide efficient service we see patients by appointment only. You should bring your x-rays, health insurance cards and if your health insurance requires one, a referral from your primary care physician.
Please be advised that if you have had any tests completed in film form, such as x-rays or MRIs, at Oconee Memorial Hospital, Anderson Area Medical Center, AnMed Urgent Care, or at Mountain View Imaging you are NOT responsible for obtaining those prior to your appointment with us, unless you are scheduled to see James McGeorge, MD or Sean McCallum, MD. We are able to view digital films from a shared system with these facilities. If you had x-rays or MRIs at any other facility other than the one’s listed, you will need to obtain and bring those films to your scheduled appointment.
Appointments can be made by phoning our office during regular business hours 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. If you require emergency attention outside of our regular hours, please call our office and the answering service will contact the doctor on call.
Please call within 24 hours to cancel your appointment if you cannot keep the appointment or feel you no longer need to be seen. This allows us to accommodate the scheduling needs of all of our patients.
Billing and Payment
We participate with most health insurance plans. If a patient is not a member of any of our current participating plans, we will be more than happy to discuss this with them and even consider joining their plan. The cost of a visit to our office depends on the services performed by the physician or physician assistant. Unless other arrangements have been made, payment is expected at the time of service. As a service to our patients, we will file on their health insurance(s). We do ask that payment of any deductible, co-insurance or co-pays be made at the time the service is rendered.
Due to legalities with contracted plans that our office participates with, we are unable to accept only the amount the patient’s insurance company pays. When participating with a contracted plan, we are legally required to bill patients for any remaining balance. This includes deductibles, co-insurance or co-pays. If a patient has no insurance, or does not provide us with verification (ie. Insurance Cards) of insurance, they are considered to be a self-pay patient. Patients without insurance will be expected to pay for all charges in full or to set up a payment plan at checkout.
Our office will complete information that is required for disability forms or Family Medical Leave Act forms. The charge for this service is $10.00 for Disability forms and $25 for Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) forms. Payment is expected when the form is left at the office for completion. Forms will be completed within 7 to 10 days.

As with any business, we adhere to a collection policy that ensures that we have the financial means to maintain this health care facility for our patients. Therefore, if a patient’s account becomes past due, we will take action to recover the amount due. This will be done after 60 days have passed from the balance becoming the patient’s responsibility.
We understand that due to financial hardships it is sometimes difficult to pay large balances at one time. We are more than willing to set up payment arrangements to help our patients. If a payment plan is not followed we will pursue collection efforts.
