Our Affiliate System

We are building one organization with affiliates in two regions. Our parent company, now known as Prisma Health, supports both affiliates with overall direction and leadership as we continue to align. We will soon share one brand across the entire organization to better reflect this. The rebranded Palmetto Health-USC Medical Group will continue to operate as a joint venture between the Midlands affiliate and the USC School of Medicine.

Existing Patients

Appointments

Due to the time-sensitive nature of cardiac care, we schedule patient appointments no more than one month in advance. After you see our cardiologist, if you need to schedule a follow-up appointment, we will enter the month in which you need to return into our computer system. When it gets closer to the time for you to return for your office visit, our computer system prompts our schedulers to make your appointment. After your appointment is scheduled, they will mail you the date and time.

To Summarize:

  • You will be notified by mail approximately two weeks to one month before your return appointment is due. If you receive the appointment notice and cannot keep the appointment, kindly call our office to reschedule.
  • If fasting lab tests are required, please try to come in two or three days before your appointment to have them done. For all other lab tests, please arrive 30 minutes before your appointment time.

We know your time is valuable and we try to make your visit to our office as pleasant and efficient as possible. Occasionally, we must change your appointment because of unforeseeable changes to your physician’s schedule. We try to keep this to a minimum, and we will notify you as far in advance as possible. Similarly, if you are unable to keep your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible.

We make every effort to accommodate all requests for specific physicians within our practice. However, there may be times when the physician requested is unavailable. At that time, you may see one of the other physicians in our group, or if you prefer, reschedule for the requested physician.

Insurance & Payment Procedures

Payment, including insurance co-payment, is expected at the time of service. You may pay your bill with cash, personal check, or credit card. For your convenience, we accept most major credit cards.

As a courtesy to our patients, we will file your primary and secondary insurance claims, but you must provide the appropriate insurance information.

If you do not have insurance, please call our billing office at (864) 454-2000 before your appointment for an estimate of the amount due at the time of your visit.

Regardless of insurance, payment remains your responsibility. We realize that temporary financial problems may make it difficult for you to pay your balance immediately. Please contact us promptly so that we can make arrangements for payment that will meet your needs.

After Hours

At least one of our cardiologists is on call 24 hours a day for emergencies. If you should need to speak with a cardiologist after hours, please call the office at (864) 455-6900, and the answering service will forward your message to the on-call physician.

Prescriptions

Please be sure to let your cardiologist know at the time of your visit if you need any prescription refills. If you happen to need a prescription refilled and you do not have an appointment, you may call our office at (864) 455-6900 during office hours and leave your request on the pharmacy line.

The nurse will give you instructions to follow in leaving your message. We hope you understand we will need a 48-72 hours to handle your request. Please check with your pharmacy before going to pick up your prescription.
