Prisma Health has five (5) distinct areas of purchasing: products, services, and capital (under Materials Management), Food Service, Pharmacy, Information Services, and Facilities Development and Campus Planning (new construction and renovations).
Appointments are required prior to any visit to Prisma Health. Signing in and receiving a visitors badge is required at the five (5) Prisma Health campuses. Upon arrival at any campus, inquire at the reception desk for sign-in location. All products and equipment will be subject to an evaluation process. Prisma Health does not have a committee that reviews products and services but creates committees based on the departments that would utilize the product. Samples for evaluations are required at no charge. Requests for payment of samples utilized in the evaluation process require prior approval. Orientations are required prior to doing business with Prisma Health by specific departments. Current orientations required are for visitation to the Operating Rooms, Catheterization Lab, and Outcomes Management. Other departments will be added in the future.
In many cases, Prisma Health utilizes Request for Quotation or Request for Proposal. A new supplier should complete the Supplier Information Form and submit it to the Supplier Diversity Manager.
Prisma Health is an owner/member of a Group Purchasing Organization, Vizient, which negotiates and provides many of the contracts that Prisma Health utilizes in purchasing products and services.
Minority and/or women-owned business
A minority or woman-owned business is a for-profit enterprise, regardless of size, physically located in the United States or its trust territories, which is owned, operated and controlled by minority group members. “Minority group members” are United States citizens who are Asian, Black, Hispanic, Women and Native American. Ownership by minority individuals means the business is at least 51% owned by such individuals or, in the case of a publicly-owned business, at least 51% of the stock is owned by one or more such individuals; further, the management and daily operations are controlled by those minority group members. The M/WBE should also be certified by an authorized organization such as the NMSDC (National Minority Supplier Development Council), CMSDC (Carolinas Minority Supplier Development Council) and/or WBENC (Women’s Business Enterprise National Council).
