Teaching Responsibilities

Inpatient Teaching Services

The vascular surgery service have at their disposal a designated endovascular operating room that is used exclusively by dedicated vascular surgery faculty members who train the vascular resident in endovascular skills. This operating room performs diagnostic arteriograms, endovascular interventions, and aortic stent graft placements.

In addition to the above, the Vascular Surgery Section manages an in-patient and outpatient peripheral vascular laboratory which is ICAVL accredited and performs approximately 15,000 procedures annually. The vascular resident will be instructed in interpretation of vascular studies and will have the opportunity to participate in imaging techniques. The vascular resident will be expected to obtain her/her RVT certification prior to completing the residency program.

Outpatient Opportunities

The vascular resident staffs an outpatient office in conjunction with a vascular staff member. There are two half-day sessions each week. The vascular residents are rotated into all faculty members’ offices to broaden their experience.
