Greenville Health System (GHS) is proud of its relationships with several area schools of nursing and places nursing and allied health students in over 80 clinical sites within the system. Representatives from our nursing leadership are also active members of the advisory boards from area colleges.
Through our commitment as a teaching facility and the expertise of our professional staff, quality clinical experiences are provided within all five of our campuses and at all facilities across our system. GHS provides clinical sites for initial degree students seeking initial RN licensure, RN-BSN students, Nurse Practitioner students, Clinical Nurse Specialist students, CRNA students and other graduate nursing students. Also coordinated through nursing services division are the patient care technician students, surgical technology students, and nurse aide students.
Multiple resources are available to support clinical learning experiences including a large variety of information available on our internal nursing webpage. Policies and procedures are available online, and our medical library provides a wealth of resources to access the most current literature and evidence to support nursing practice. Computers are located throughout the facilities for student use. We have a preceptor handbook available to guide the clinical experience during an RN student's scheduled senior practicum experience. Through the innovative use of a software program for scheduling, unit managers can view online the schedules for the student clinical rotations for their specific units. In addition, faculty are able to view the unit schedules from their offices at the Colleges.
Students and faculty are welcome to join our educational sessions and participate in our system's professional practice councils. Several online evaluation forms are available to provide continual feedback to enhance the learning experience and sharing of information.
