Academic Medicine Overview

Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center (GHS) strives to provide an environment where the best and brightest medical professionals can thrive in their careers and help us advance the art and science of health care in Upstate South Carolina and beyond.

GHS has seven ACGME accredited medical residency programs and five fellowship programs and is the training site for 67 third and fourth year medical students from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.

In 2006, GHS became the 97th member to join University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC). To become a part of UHC requires demonstrating excellence in service and teaching.

In 2010, GHS received National Accreditation for its human research protection program (IRB and Research Compliance) from the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Program (AAHRPP).
