Highlights for April and May!
Expressive Therapeutic Movement – Mondays, April 30-June 11, 11 a.m. –
Noon. Join dance educator Jennie Wakefield in this low impact class that teaches the use of
movement, drawing and writing to connect our lives and feelings. Class is suitable for all levels,
older teens to seniors; male and female. No prior dance training is needed. Wear loose,
comfortable clothes (barefoot class). Fee: $72 Members, $90 Public. Register by April 27.
Self-defense Class with Master-level Instructor Tim March—5th degree Black
Belt (Karate-Do) and Honorary 7th degree Black Belt (JuJitsu)—Learn a combination
of traditional martial arts and modern self-defense. Training promotes honesty, integrity,
self-discipline, self-control, focus, positive attitude, and self-defense skills. Schedule and
pricing varies; call 455-4001.

Hoop Hoop!—Sunday, May 27, 11:30-12:30. Enjoy an action-packed 60-minutes of
hooping and fun! All skill levels welcome. Led by instructor Tim March. Fee: $8 Member;

Kid’s Self-Defense Class—Sunday, May 27, 1-2 p.m. Join 5th Degree Black Belt
Master, Tim March as he introduces common sense tools of self defense. He will also
discuss bullying and teach techniques for coping with confrontation. Fee: $8 Member;
$10 Public. Pre-register by at front desk or call 455-4001.
Adult Self-Defense Class—Sunday, May 27, 2:30-5:30 p.m. Learn prevention,
evasion, escape, striking, groundfighting, and pressure point control tactics. Taught by
Tim March, 5th Degree Black Belt Master. Fee: $20 Member; $25 Public. Pre-register by at

Using the Bosu Balance Trainer—Wednesday, May 23, 12:30-1:30 p.m. Join Jim
Gillespie, Conditioning Supervisor, in a session about incorporating balance equipment

Rheumatoid Arthritis Answers—Wednesday, May 30, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Dr.
Gulzar Merchant, GHS Dept. of Rheumatology, will identify symptoms and challenges of the

Carbon Hunters: Future of Food -- Thursday, May 10, 12:30-1:30 p.m. Presented by
Dr. Walker Miller and wife Ann, Happy Berry Farms. Humans are exhausting our five pools
of carbon and will probably exhaust the last remnants of all of them using nuclear energy.
The Jeavon Paradox, an economic principle, coupled with our current "Knowledge is Power"
ethic is currently causally involved. Agriculture and science are both the problem and the
solution. The presentation outlines a vision of a sustainable future instead of the end of an

stress-reduction methods for your life. Educational and physical avenues are taught to
