Research is alive and well here at GHS!
Our Nursing Research Council
started in 2002 and has developed a variety of innovative educational and mentoring activities to promote staff nurse involvement in research. The year 2011 marks the 9th anniversary of our Nursing Research Conference
which is held every September in Greenville. This conference brings together novice and experienced nurse researchers to disseminate research findings and provides a networking opportunity to share ideas for potential future studies. Members of the Nursing Research Council receive education to expand their knowledge of research and, in turn, are assigned as “study buddies”
to assist nurses as they navigate the approval process for their studies.
Resources for proposal development and links to key evidence based practice sites are available for quick access on the intranet nursing webpage. Nurses are encouraged and supported to develop poster and oral presentations and publications to disseminate the findings of their studies. Several units have initiated journal clubs, providing opportunities for staff to engage in dialogue about relevant literature findings affecting their everyday practice.
Members of the Nursing Research Council work collaboratively to support evidence based practice and current research findings to be integrated into clinical practice. The council develops and distributes Clinical Practice Alerts
based upon current evidence for best practice.
