In 2006, South Carolina state lawmakers passed the Hospital Infections Disclosure Act (HIDA). This law requires hospitals to report certain infection rates to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) and the public. 


Twice a year, hospitals are required to report infections that patients developed while being treated in the hospital. Hospitals are not required to report infections that patients had when they were admitted.

Language Services

Greenville Health System provides a number of interpretation and translation services for our patients.


  • Spanish-English interpreters available in person and by remote video access.
  • American Sign Language - English interpreters, available in person and by remote video access, for our hard-of-hearing and deaf patients.
  • Vietnamese - English interpreters available in person and by remote video access.
  • Phone interpretation services that provide access for hundreds of spoken languages for our medical team and patients.

We strive to offer interpretation services for a wide range of languages to provide medical care to all of our patients in their native language. Advance notice may be necessary for some languages. If you have questions or need to coordinate language services, consult your physician or call the Language Services Department at (864) 455-4652.

Language services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
