Founded in 1951, Travelers Rest Family Medicine is the longest established family practice in Travelers Rest. Today, we continue a strong tradition of high-quality, compassionate care for patientsin a hometown setting. Our board-certified family physicians and physician assistants provide pediatric, adolescent, gynecologic and adult medical services. We start by collecting a complete medical history from each patient to recommend the most appropriate and up-to-date medical care. We focus on comprehensive care for the entire family, beginning with overall wellness and disease prevention, which includes a complete vaccination program.
We are well trained in the latest techniques for managing chronic diseases and have expertise in urgent care. We also have extensive experience in evaluating and treating a variety of dermatologic conditions, as well as general orthopaedic and sports-related injuries, and we are knowledgeable about the latest treatments for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). We see patients by appointment, except for medical emergencies. If you need an urgent appointment, please call the office and we will make every effort to see you the same day.Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment so that our front office and clinical staff may prepare for your visit with the doctor. You can make an appointment with a nurse for immunizations, weight checks, blood pressure checks, B-12 shots, testosterone shots, diabetes and/or osteoporosis education and medication assistance programs.
If you are unable to keep an appointment, we request that you notify the office 24 hours in advance. Missed appointments may result in a fee. Our clinical staff is available to answer questions and help you decide if you need an appointment. A staff member will return all calls made before 2:00 p.m. on the same business day. Our staff may not be able to return routine calls received after 2:00 p.m. until the following day.
Our physicians are available for after-hours emergency calls. For all medical emergencies, please call 911.
We request that routine questions be directed to the clinical staff during office hours.
Patients who are admitted to the hospital for treatment will be cared for by GHS hospitalists (the inpatient physician team).
Prescriptions and prescription refills will be given at your office visit. If you need a refill between visits, please call us during office hours. Keep in mind two business days are needed to process requests for prescription refills. We are unable to refill routine prescriptions after office hours or on weekends as the physician on-call may not have access to your medical record.
Special Forms and Correspondence
A fee may be applied for special forms and correspondence, including but not limited to requests related to life insurance, employment, sports/physicals, disability, driver’s licenses, nursing home and assisted living admission forms, and FMLA.
Insurance and Payment Policy
Our office will assist you in filing claims with your insurance company. Payment for co-payments and deductibles must be made at the time of your visit. Please be familiar with your insurance benefits and requirements. There may be a fee from your insurance company if you use an unapproved location for laboratory tests or fail to obtain appropriate authorizations. Please notify our office with any changes to your insurance, address, phone number or personal information.
