South Carolina Home Care & Hospice Association Presents 2013 Professional of the Year Award
The South Carolina Home Care & Hospice Association presented its 2013 HOME (Honoring Outstanding Merit & Excellence) Awards at their Annual Conference & Expo November 20, 2013. These awards recognize the true heroes in home care, home health and hospice: those who serve on the front line every day, encountering numerous challenges often with a smile on their face and a fierce determination to persevere on behalf of their patients. Nominees for the HOME Awards are submitted annually and the Awards Committee has the important task of selecting the winners each year.
The Association’s Annual Awards Celebration is a special time for the Association and for the State of South Carolina. This is the yearly event that allows the opportunity for the Association membership and friends to remember the outstanding work and commitment of outstanding people. These compassionate people are dedicated to promoting healing, extending life, and alleviating pain and suffering, all the while keeping families together and providing the greatest degree of freedom, independence, and dignity possible for patients. The Awards were presented by the Association’s President and CEO, Tim Rogers.
The recipient of this year’s Professional of the Year Award is Lori Suit, PT, with Greenville Health System Home Health. Ms. Suit excels in all aspects of her role from clinical care and patient outcomes to her commitment to quality and interdisciplinary teamwork. She is an excellent communicator, and her teammates report that they are continually updated on her patients’ progress and needs. She is well respected by all. Her peers acknowledge she sets the gold standard for documentation. She responds to questions and concerns from patients and families and is prompt in reporting and resolving concerns.
In the words of her nominators, “She exudes what home care is really about - not only providing a skilled need to help patients achieve their goals and maximize their independence in their homes, but also touching the lives of people with her warm interactions and genuine concern for their whole well-being.” Congratulations Lori!
Established in 1979, the South Carolina Home Care & Hospice Association was created as a nonprofit trade association for home health agencies that provide Medicare-certified skilled care. Today, the Association has greatly expanded to represent the leading certified home health agencies, hospices, and private duty home care agencies across the state. SCHCA’s mission continues to be the provision of resources, education, advocacy and leadership in home care.
