With the opening of the Greenville HealthCare Simulation Center in spring of 2007, GHS stands at the threshold to change the way doctors, nurses, and allied professionals train. It will provide a cost-effective, efficient system for providing a realistic training experience within a controlled setting. The pediatric component specifically includes SimBaby, Noelle (an adult female simulator who gives birth), Trauma Boy and task trainers for intubation, IV insertion and other pediatric-specific procedures. Work with the simulators has been incorporated into the orientation for pediatric residents, and our residents also participate in mock codes using the advanced code simulators. Feedback from our residents has been universally positive.
In 2009, the center moved into its permanent location in the Research, Education and Innovation Institute and became part of the Health Sciences Research and Education Campus adjacent to Greenville Memorial Hospital.
