Resident Participation in Academic Societies and Research

All of our residents become members of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Every year, our 2nd year residents participate in a Quality Improvement (QI) project initiative, guided by faculty mentors. Our residents have presented the results of their QI projects at the South Carolina chapter meeting of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and at the Association of Pediatric Program Directors national meeting.  Our residents have been recognized for their outstanding work by winning awards for the last four years. We recently graduated the chair of the resident section of the S.C. AAP, and Robin LaCroix, M.D. of our infectious disease division recently completed her term as president of the organization. Our residents have contributed to several publications over the past few years, and several have had presentations accepted at local and national meetings.
