I can't believe that I am a third year resident already. It seems like it was only yesterday that I was entering the interview process. I attended a large university medical school and have found the quality of lectures, patient diversity, clinical experiences, and resources to be very similar here at GHS. When I interviewed at GHS, I was impressed with the friendly and cooperative work environment. Through my interactions with attending physicians and residents, I observed kindness, understanding, compassion, and humility. As a GHS pediatric resident, I am learning to practice evidence based medicine while fostering empathetic and supportive patient relationships. The program offers excellent experiences and a nurturing learning environment in a variety of settings. As a senior resident, I have the opportunity to mentor both interns and medical students. Serving as a teacher helps to develop the life-long learning skills essential to become a successful physician. Through elective and second primary experiences, I have been able to focus on my areas of interest as well as areas of weakness to create my own uniquely beneficial training experience. Residents work long hours and spend a lot of time together. Thankfully, I have been blessed with a hard-working and skilled class that also knows how to have a good time! When moving to SC from Alabama, it was important for my husband and me to find a family of friends. We have done that through the GHS pediatric residency program!
