Childrens Hospital and Facilities

Children’s Hospital inpatient services are located on the fifth and sixth floors of the Children’s Hospital and Heart Tower at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Children’s Hospital consists of a 44 bed medical/surgical unit, an 8 bed hematology-oncology unit, a 12 bed PICU, a 4 bed inpatient sleep lab, a 65 bed Bryan Neonatal ICU and a 50 bassinette nursery. Additional space within the Children’s Hospital houses the pediatric pharmacy, school for hospitalized children, playrooms and physical therapy.

Adjacent to the elevator bank in the Children’s lobby is a parent/child resource library supported and staffed by Ronald McDonald House volunteers where families can explore details of medical diagnoses as well as find age-appropriate reading materials.

The Center for Pediatric Medicine, located across the street from the Greenville Memorial Medical Center, provides all levels of pediatric ambulatory diagnosis and treatment and a medical home for approximately 90% of the children in Greenville County who are on Medicaid. A newly remodeled 15,200 square foot facility opened in May 2007.

The Center for Pediatric Medicine-North Greenville, located on the GHS North Greenville campus, provides outpatient diagnosis and treatment for children from that region who are supported by Medicaid.

Children’s Hospital Outpatient Center (CHOC) is a physician group practice for 10 of the Children’s Hospital subspecialty physician practices including pediatric gastroenterology, pediatric infectious disease, pediatric cardiology, pediatric endocrinology, pediatric nephrology, pediatric developmental-behavioral medicine, pediatric neurology, pediatric urology, pediatric sleep medicine, and pediatric neurosurgery. CHOC is located on the GHS Patewood Memorial Medical Campus, directly adjacent to the Children’s Outpatient Surgery Center. Satellite specialty offices are also located in Anderson, Greenwood, Seneca and Spartanburg.

A recent partnership with AnMed Health in Anderson, SC, was established to develop a community hospitalist program aimed to provide high quality primary care and enhance teaching for the family medicine training program located there. Greenville Pediatric residents also have the opportunity to rotate in this community hospitalist setting or in the pediatric urgent care center Kids’ Care as electives.
