Why I chose to come to Greenville for Med-Peds:
I still remember visiting Greenville for the first time for my interview. All I knew at that time about Greenville was that a lot of my friends from high school went to Furman University. It did not take me long to realize that Greenville offered exactly the sort of environment I was looking for in residency. Greenville offers the perfect blend of academics in a community setting. Research opportunities abound and are expanding. The attendings on both sides are eager to teach and are very approachable. The residents are all hard working and also enjoy spending time together outside of the hospital. The city of Greenville is beautiful and has a classic southern feel. I have had a wonderful experience and would love to discuss more with anyone interested in Greenville or med-peds in general. Please feel free to email me!

Why I chose to come to Greenville for Med-Peds:
I was fortunate enough to become familiar with the program in Greenville during my 3rd and 4th years of medical school. That time I spent allows me to say that it would be hard to find a group of physicians and residents who enjoy teaching as much as those here at GHS. In saying that, one of the best features of the program here in Greenville is the personal interaction we have with upcoming medical students, filling roles as both mentors and fellow life-long learners. The chance to interact with students in a basically 1:1 ratio is hard to find in other larger institutions. I was also once attracted to doing my residency in a program outside SC, in an effort to hear new perspectives and be exposed to new diagnoses. But, I quickly realized on the interview trail that Greenville offers just as much, if not more, experience than any other program would be able to offer me. The ability to complete a procedure month, work with our own med-peds hospitalist group, and even explore medicine outside of the US are just a few examples of how much knowledge we are enabled to access through being a GHS med-peds resident. Finally, Greenville is still growing, as both a city and a medical hotspot. Already the largest health care system in SC, GHS’ continued growth is closely tied to the city it calls home. So being both a member of the community and a resident at GHS lets me feel like I am a part of something that is on its way to changing the standard of health care and living in South Carolina.

Why I chose to come to Greenville for Med-Peds:
As a medical student, I completed my clinical rotations at Greenville Health System and was very impressed by the med-peds program. The faculty are experienced, knowledgeable, and approachable and the residents are hard working and compassionate. The med-peds program has a strong identity and there is great camaraderie among the residents. I have a strong interest in public health, and I can see that the comprehensive array of quality experiences I will receive with Greenville med-peds will equip me for a lifetime of medical practice.  On top of wonderful relationships within the medical profession, Greenville is a great place to live. It offers great dining, cultural, and athletic experiences and it is only a few hours away from beautiful beaches and large metropolitan cities.
