Embarking upon a career in medicine means accepting the responsibilities and unique privileges of the medical profession. Self-monitoring, self-governance, self-reflection, and the house staff responsibilities for professional stewardship are essential to the learning and teaching environment of graduate medical education. We, the House Staff, understand that it is a great honor and privilege to study and work in the healthcare profession. As members of the Greenville Health System (GHS) community, the house staff promises to uphold the highest standards of ethical and compassionate behavior while learning, teaching, caring for others, performing research, and participating in educational activities.
For these reasons and as a professional commitment, the House Staff Liaison Committee adopted the Resident Physicians/House Staff Teaching-Learning Commitment. To view the commitment document go to: Resident Commitment (see page 4).
The House Staff Liaison Committee is composed of the house staff president, vice president, secretary, chief residents of each residency program, the vice president of medical and academic services, medical student representatives from the 3rd and 4th years, and the administrator of academic services. Meetings are held monthly.
