The Institute for Vascular Health is the largest, most comprehensive vascular care center in the Southeast. The IVH is locarted at Greenville Hospital System Univerity Medical Center Patewood Campus and is one of the only facilities in the United States that provides patients access to a complete range of vascular care. Vascular Surgery
The Institute for Vascular Health has earned a national reputation for vascular surgery informed by breakthrough research and tested expertise. As part of Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center, our surgeons are able to provide the very latest procedures, while maintaining a commitment to the highest standards, protocols and continuity of care. Our team of experts has even pioneered a unique grading system for analyzing the severity of vascular disease in lower extremities called LEGS (Lower Extremity Grading Scale) that has been adopted by surgeons nationwide, leading to more timely diagnoses and treatment for patients in our community—and across the country.

Vein Center
The Vein Center at the Institute for Vascular Health offers the latest technology for the diagnosis and treatment of venous disorders as well as cosmetic treatment of varicose veins. Operating within a world-class, comfortable facility, the Upstate’s only board-certified vascular disease specialists provide patients with non-invasive evaluations of the three main components of the vascular system—arterial, venous and lymphatic—and help patients regain their vitality through advanced treatments for varicose veins.
Cardiovascular Risk Reduction
Our unique Cardiovascular Risk Reduction program empowers patients with existing cardiovascular disease to reduce their risk of additional complications and hospital admissions through medically directed evaluation. Whether helping patients manage their hypertension or utilizing the latest echocardiogram and nuclear testing available, this program helps patients and their physicians understand and manage their risk factors. Our doctors partner with their patients’ primary care physicians to create a detailed cardiovascular assessment so patients can take charge and manage their own path to a better quality of life.
Comprehensive Wound Care
Our comprehensive wound care program and hyperbaric treatment does more than just help patients recover. It opens doors to a more productive life for those who have been on the sidelines due to a major wound or infection caused by diabetes, poor circulation or other disorders aids patients in their recovery.
Diagnostic Services
At the Institute for Vascular Health, we have all of the latest diagnostic technology available in one convenient location. These on-site resources take the hassle out of testing and labwork, and allow doctors and patients to focus on care regimens and results—instead of driving from one specialist’s office to another. Our advanced chest X-ray equipment is fully automated and never requires calibration, so patients and doctors can get more accurate pre-op results faster and easier than ever before.
The Institute’s nuclear lab incorporates state-of-the-art equipment to test function and capacity during activity. Located within walking distance of other critical exam stations, the lab provides patients with a comfortable, accessible space to perform stress tests.
The Brilliance™ 64-channel CT scanner configuration provides high-speed, multi-layer coverage for better image quality, allowing physicians to evaluate arteries anywhere in the coronary tree with unprecedented accuracy and clarity. Our on-site phlebotomy station ensures that patients do not have to travel to a separate facility to have blood drawn. Our lab is located alongside our doctors and staff, giving patients seamless access and timely results.
The echocardiogram lab is directly adjacent to other key testing sites, allowing patients to comfortably move through a required sequence of tests, while doctors and technologists can compare results and discuss treatment options seamlessley.
Vascular Lab
Designed with faster, better results in mind, our nationally accredited, state-of-the-art vascular lab is located next to our patient exam rooms, allowing doctors to make diagnoses and treatment decisions without delay. One of the busiest in the region, the vascular lab at the Institute for Vascular Health sees over 20,000 patients each year.
