Wound Care

As part of Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center, we are committed to delivering total health solutions that improve our patients’ qualities of life. At the Institute for Vascular Health, that means combining the latest technology with the most dedicated staff to deliver a level of care that’s consistent, continuous and unrivaled in the region. Part of this commitment to total health is providing comprehensive wound care for those who have been suffering from a wound or infection. Our specialists understand how much our patients have to gain from a complete and successful recovery, and it affects every decision we make — from start to finish.

Our comprehensive wound care team is dedicated to providing the very best for our patients at every stage – from treatment at Greenville Memorial Hospital to outpatient care at the Institute of Vascular Health to all-RN home health services.

The latest wound care technology- the experience to make it work for you

From basic wound care and debridement to hyperbaric oxygen therapy, the comprehensive wound care program at the Institute for Vascular Health provides patients with the resources they need to fully recover. We offer topical antimicrobial treatments, application of advanced biological dressings and supplemental medication to accelerate the healing process. More  innovative measures are also available, including negative pressure wound therapy, skin substitutes and non-surgical debridement technology.

If patients require hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), our office offers private facilities that maximize comfort while effectively treating wounds. Our individual hyperbaric chambers administer 100% pure oxygen in a pressurized environment, increasing the level of oxygen entering the blood and tissue. Patients have the option of watching DVDs to pass the time during their treatment thanks to flat-screen televisions mounted above the chambers.

A team dedicated to your full recovery- a plan designed just for you

Every year, non-healing wounds keep three to five million Americans from living life to the fullest. Our comprehensive wound care program, one of the only centers of its kind in our area, does more than just help patients recover. It opens doors to a more productive, comfortable life for those who have struggled with a major wound or infection caused by diabetes, poor circulation and other disorders. Our dedicated staff offers the newest technology and treatments for managing persistent wounds and ulcers, and gets patients on the fast track to recovery and healing. When you visit our office, our staff will first examine your wound and ask specific questions about your general health. We will review your medical history and conduct special tests to help gather additional information on how best to treat your wound. After a thorough analysis of your results, our specialists will design a treatment program based on your individual needs.

A fully integrated approach-more personal, devoted care

Our team believes the best technology and research can’t work for patients without the cooperation of dedicated, caring professionals who value the dignity of every person. That understanding of the human element in total health is what sets our practice apart, and what is making a difference in the lives of our wound care patients each day. One of the most important components of a successful recovery is steady progress that’s monitored by a full spectrum of doctors, nurses and referring physicians. Our wound care staff, led by board-certified vascular surgeon John York, M.D., works in conjunction with patients’ personal physicians to involve them in the process from start to finish. Patients can receive a continuum of care — from the hospital and outpatient services to home health care. At any point in the process, patients can be sure their treatments are consistent with their long-term recovery plan.
