The Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) Clinic is focused solely on that one condition so that patients receive very focused care. CHF (also called Cardiomyopathy), is the inability of the heart to pump enough blood to meet the body's needs. Symptoms of CHF include shortness of breath, leg swelling and awakening from sleep gasping for air.
The clinic provides monitoring of this condition as well as strategies to improve the quality of life for their patients. Aggressive management of CHF has been shown to reduce hospitalizations and prolong life. When a patient is referred to the clinic, he or she undergoes an initial consultation by a trained heart failure nurse and a plan of treatment is developed that includes medication, diet, and activity. To refer a patient to the CHF clinic, please call (864) 455-2432.
