Haiti Mission Trip

Dr. Juan Teruel and Dr. Amber Passini traveled as members of a medical team to Haiti. The team treated over 1000 patients with a variety of diseases including malaria, typhoid fever, intestinal parasitic infections and malnutrition. This trip was a unique experience in third world medicine, teamwork, and travel.

Dr. Sonny Park, a third year resident, traveled with Dr. Juan Teruel of the Center for Family Medicine faculty, to Northern Haiti. A small church building was turned into a clinic. In four days, the three providers on the team saw 802 patients. Patients presented with such conditions as Falciparum malaria, amoebiasis, intestinal helminthic infections, and malnutrition. This trip was a unique experience in third world medicine, teamwork and travel.


Indonesia Mission Trip

Lissette Maduro, M.D. went to Indonesia on a mission trip with a group associated with the Frisco Compassion and Brushy Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Carpenter and Dr. Fraley from our GHS ER group.



 


Ecuador Mission Trip

Dr. Palmira S. Snape funded an endowment for our family Medicine residents to ensure they would be financially able to participate on mission trips.
