Program Overview

The Greenville Hospital System/University of South Carolina School of Medicine Medicine-Pediatrics residency program at Greenville Hospital System is a fully accredited, four-year residency that builds on two strong underlying programs. In addition to four Med-Peds residents, 10 categorical and 4 preliminary Internal Medicine and nine Pediatric residents are accepted each year.

Although a separate entity, the Medicine-Pediatrics program is integrated with two equally strong Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residencies. The residency is designed to make the graduate comfortable in treating the whole family (excluding obstetrical care) from newborn to geriatrics. Additionally, the graduate will have significant flexibility in selecting a future primary care practice or subspecialty training.

Several factors lead to the strength of residency programs at Greenville Hospital System. Training more than 120 residents in multiple disciplines has led to excellent conference, library, and teaching resources. The resident directly interacts with general and specialty faculty in virtually every discipline.

Considered both a primary and tertiary referral center, Greenville Memorial Hospital is a 710-bed facility where the resident sees a large and diverse patient population on a single campus.

This unique program is only the second Medicine-Pediatrics Program in the state of South Carolina.
