- A 781-bed regional referral center, Greenville Hospital System draws patients from northwest South Carolina and also significant numbers from northeast Georgia and western North Carolina
- Greenville Memorial Hospital, the system's flagship, is the largest acute care hospital in South Carolina, serving over 1 million people each year
- As part of a university medical center, Greenville Memorial Hospital is a satellite teaching campus for third- and fourth-year medical students from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine; GHS also has a teaching affiliation with the Medical University of South Carolina

- In FY 2002, more than 5,600 babies were delivered and 3,500 gynecologic procedures were performed

- One of the first in the United States to offer videoscopic saphenous vein harvesting
