How to be a Great Visitor
For the comfort of your loved one and to respect the needs of all, please observe the following guidelines:
Call the patient before visiting.- Let the patient determine the length of visits, but we recommend no more than 20-30 minutes to allow the patient adequate rest time.
- Limit visitors to no more than two people in a room at one time (because of noise and space constraints) and be as quiet as possible in the hallways.
- Use the restroom facilities in the waiting areas.
- Patients may be sensitive to certain smells, so please do not wear perfume or cologne and limit food and beverages to designated areas.
- Respect the other patient in semi-private rooms regarding number of visitors, noise, TV, and restrooms.
- Dress appropriately – shirts and shoes are required for everyone, including children.
- Extra pillows etc., will be provided when appropriate. Please leave pillows at home.
- Honor “No Visitors” signs on patient room doors.
- Ask the patient or family members how you can best help them (see Alternatives to Visiting).
