Home Health

Home health services are provided on an intermittent basis to patients in their place of residence. Generally, home health care is provided to patients who require care that family and friends cannot easily or effectively provide without aid.

Patients recovering from surgery or an illness, who are disabled or chronically ill, who need intermittent medical treatment and/or help with daily living activities are eligible to receive home health care. Patients who are unable to leave home for care without considerable effort may also qualify for home health care.

The National Association for Home Care estimates that more than 8 million Americans currently receive home care for both acute and long-term needs. This figure increases every day as greater numbers of people are able to leave hospitals early or are able to avoid being admitted altogether. State-of-the-art medical equipment for use in the home can now provide treatments and services that once were available only in the hospital.

Greenville Hospital System Home Health Agency provides high-quality, skilled nursing care and therapy services to people in their place of residence. Services are provided by registered nurses, licensed physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists, as well as certified home health aides under the direction of a physician.
