Men and aesthetics. Two words that don’t exactly go together, but the days of growing old gracefully are over. My personal philosophy is to fight at every turn to stay looking young and healthy. So, what did I do? I found out how to get rid of those wrinkles, age spots and sunken cheeks. Women have been doing it for years, and quite frankly, they look better than most men, including me!
A few months ago, I watched a woman receive a Juvederm Voluma treatment from Dr. Beth Browne at Carolina Aesthetics. The treatment consists of a series of injections that add volume in the cheek area. I was intrigued because the woman looked great afterwards and the change was so subtle and natural. So, I started asking about it, and then I did it.
I started with a free consult at Carolina Aesthetics, a medical spa that is part of Greenville Health System. I had heard of a medical spa before, but I had never been to one. I found out that, unlike a typical spa, they offer products and services that require oversight of a physician. The staff focuses on developing skin care and cosmetic plans specific to your type of skin. The office is welcoming and relaxed but with a clinical feel.
During the consultation, I learned that Voluma is one of several products that are used to enhance the face. I researched other doctors in the area that offer these injections. I felt it was key to find a physician who had lots of experience so that I didn’t end up looking plastic or overdone. Dr. Browne performs the injections at Carolina Aesthetics and has over 12 years of injectable experience and a great reputation.
I was told what to expect before, during and after the injections. The treatment takes about 45 minutes, and a numbing cream is used to make the treatment more comfortable. I was told Dr. Browne would explain everything she did step-by-step.
On the day of my appointment I was nervous, but it wasn’t bad at all. Dr. Browne and her assistant Caron made the whole process easy and almost painless. (Nothing is pain free, right?)
I think the results were awesome, but you can judge for yourself from the before and after pictures. In addition to the Voluma Dr. Browne added to my cheeks, I also had Botox in my forehead. The Voluma lasts for up to two years and the Botox lasts for about three months.
So, if you’re a man who has thought about it, not thought about it, or you are now thinking about it, the staff at Carolina Aesthetics are great to work with. They’re brutally honest, but they’ll make you look good. There are also other non-injectable treatments available to make you look younger and healthier. Oh, and one other thing that they have that you might like is a back entrance. Just in case you don’t want anyone to know.
