Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians with GHS University Medical Group, Department of OB-GYN are obstetricians/gynecologists with two to three years of additional training in the treatment of pregnancy complications. They bring exceptional skill to cases in which the expectant mother has a health condition such as diabetes or high blood pressure, carries multiple babies, or experiences premature labor or other threats to pregnancy. They provide pre-conceptual counseling for women with medical problems, previous complications, and, in conjunction with Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility of GHS University Medical Group, Department of OB-GYN, recurrent pregnancy loss.
Inpatient care is provided at Greenville Memorial Hospital, where five board-certified sub-specialists are available around the clock.
The first perinatal diagnostic ultrasound center in South Carolina to receive national certification by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, the Maternal Fetal Medicine division is also a training and research site for General Electric 4D ultrasound technology.
