The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology group at Greenville Hospital System Children's Hospital treats children from birth to age 21. All types of childhood cancer and blood disorders, including cogaulopathies, sickle cell disease, and other anemias and white blood cell diseases are diagnosed and treated by a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, nurses, social workers, and Child Life specialists.

 

Pediatric cancer specialists at the Children's Hospital treat children with cancer using every available resource. Because Children's Hospital is a member of a national childhood cancer study group called the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), we can provide patients with access to innovative new therapies across the country and around the world.  In addition, our Sickle Cell Disease Center and Hemophilia Program provide comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for patients with these disorders.

Children receive excellent care in a closed, dedicated hematology/oncology inpatient unit in the Children’s Hospital. To help young patients and their families cope with the all of challenges of life with cancer, the treatment team includes Child Life specialists, pastoral care staff, and behavioral/developmental pediatric specialists. More than 30 pediatric sub-specialists with the Children's Hospital are available for consultation.
