Diversity Department

Greenville Hospital System is the first in the state of South Carolina to have its own formalized diversity office. The GHS Diversity Office was created to meet and welcome the growing cultural and linguistic demands of the increasing diverse community. The goal is to promote an environment in which customers and employees are treated with respect and appreciation regardless of their cultural, religious, ethnic, or social characteristics.

Greenville Hospital System offers interpretation and translation services to eliminate barriers of communication between patient and provider. Such services are offered in Spanish, American Sign Language, Vietnamese, Chinese, Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, Russian, Cambodian, Greek, Polish, and Korean languages. Full time dedicated Spanish-speaking interpreters are qualified to meet the language needs of scheduled and unscheduled patients. Telephonic and Teleconference services are also available.

Greenville Hospital System also offers translated documents to accommodate patients. With 72 translated documents available, ranging from consent forms to patient's bill of rights, we make every effort to communicate all information and procedures in the patient's preferred language. We also strive to send relevant translated material to the patient’s home to make them aware of what to expect during their visit.
