The Children's Hospital's affiliated pediatric pulmonologist and staff diagnose and manage cystic fibrosis, asthma, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, and other acute and chronic pulmonary diseases in infants, children, and adolescents. Tremendous emphasis is placed on patient and parent education. Pulmonary function testing is performed on children 5 years or older when indicated. Diagnostic flexible fiber-optic bronchoscopy with state-of-the-art equipment is available even for the smallest newborns.
The division supports the Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Clinic at the Children's Respiratory Center. This clinic is an accredited affiliate to Duke University's Cystic Fibrosis Center.
